Overbrook School for the Blind
An important part of Overbrook School for the Blind's mission is to provide students with a living and learning environment tailored to their needs and goals. Daley + Jalboot Architects has assisted the school in achieving this through an ongoing series of projects designed for their beautiful campus built in 1899. D+JA's design for the renovation of this historic dormitory structure reconfigured the building's interior to improve accessibility and provide larger, more inviting living and community spaces. Building services were modernized and upgraded throughout as part of the school's nationally recognized program of providing barrier-free access to technology. At the building's exterior, a new ramp and curvilinear plaza improve access to the main entrance and provide the students with an outdoor gathering space.
