Newark United Methodist Church
Located on Main Street in the center of Newark, this historic church building was constructed in five phases: 1865, 1931, 1948, 1964, and 1989. The proposed plan reorganizes the layout on all three floors, addresses both vertical and horizontal circulation issues, and adds a new entry to the 1964 wing adjacent to the reconfigured parking lot. Internal improvements include adding a new elevator, creating a contemporary worship space, relocating the kitchen, adding new barrier free lavatories, and providing infrastructure improvements. The first phase of the plan is scheduled for a May 2013 construction start.
